A nine-node quadrilateral FCBI element for incompressible fluid flows
نویسنده
چکیده
We propose a nine-node ow-condition-based interpolation (FCBI) nite element for the analysis of 2D incompressible ows. Emphasis in the FCBI approach is on obtaining an element that is stable and can be used in rather coarse meshes even when considering high Reynolds number ows. The formulation of the element is presented and the results obtained in the solution of some test cases are given. Copyright ? 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

On the flow-condition-based interpolation approach for incompressible fluids
We briefly review the use of the flow-condition-based interpolation (FCBI) approach for the solution of high Péclet and high Reynolds number flow problems. The basic idea is presented, formulations for quadrilateral and triangular elements are briefly described, and the results of some numerical solutions are given.
متن کاملA Flow-condition-based Interpolation Mixed Finite Element Procedure for Higher Reynolds Number Fluid Flows
We present a (somewhat) new finite element procedure for the analysis of higher Reynolds number fluid flows. While two-dimensional conditions and incompressible fluid flows are considered, the scheme can directly be used for three-dimensional conditions and also has good potential for compressible flow analysis. The procedure is based on the use of a nine-node element, optimal for incompressibl...
متن کاملThe CIP method embedded in finite element discretizations of incompressible fluid flows
Quite effective low-order finite element and finite volume methods for incompressible fluid flows have been established and are widely used. However, higher-order finite element methods that are stable, have high accuracy and are computationally efficient are still sought. Such discretization schemes could be particularly useful to establish error estimates in numerical solutions of fluid flows...
متن کاملA comparison between different finite elements for elastic and aero-elastic analyses
In the present paper, a comparison between five different shell finite elements, including the Linear Triangular Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element based on deformation modes, 8-node Quadrilateral Element, and 9-Node Quadrilateral Element was presented. The shape functions and the element equations related to each element were presented through a detailed mathem...
متن کاملExternal and Internal Incompressible Viscous Flows Computation using Taylor Series Expansion and Least Square based Lattice Boltzmann Method
The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has recently become an alternative and promising computational fluid dynamics approach for simulating complex fluid flows. Despite its enormous success in many practical applications, the standard LBM is restricted to the lattice uniformity in the physical space. This is the main drawback of the standard LBM for flow problems with complex geometry. Several app...
